What is the effect of slow motion strength training on weight loss?

We often often encounter questions about the effectiveness of various training methods, particularly in the realm of weight loss. One such method gaining attention is slow motion strength training. Let’s dive into how this technique not only aids in weight loss but also contributes to overall health and fitness.

What is Slow Motion Strength Training?
Slow motion strength training involves performing weight lifting exercises at a significantly slower pace than traditional strength training. This method typically consists of lifting a weight over a period of 10 seconds and lowering it over another 10 seconds. This slow pace increases the time your muscles are under tension, maximizing muscle fiber recruitment.

Impact on Muscle Mass
The first significant aspect of slow motion strength training is its ability to increase muscle mass. When you engage in this type of training, you create more microscopic damage to muscle fibers, which, when repaired, lead to stronger, larger muscles. This process, known as muscle hypertrophy, is crucial for weight loss for several reasons.

Muscle Mass and Fat Burning
Increased muscle mass plays a pivotal role in enhancing your body's fat-burning capabilities. Muscle tissue is metabolically active, meaning it burns calories even when you're not exercising. Therefore, the more muscle mass you have, the higher your resting metabolic rate (RMR) becomes. This increased RMR means your body burns more calories throughout the day, aiding in weight loss and weight management.
